2007 Founders Trophy presented to Rachel Lee
Following is the presentation of the 2007 Founders Trophy made by BCF Board Member Susan Schmidt to Rachel Lee on March 16, 2007:
You probably all recognize her name as having recently been awarded the Future First Citizen of Corvallis. We’d be here all afternoon if I told you everything that is on her activities list. Here are just a few.
- 3.98 GPA including honor classes at CVHS
- She has dual enrollment at LBCC while still attending high school and maintains a 3.82 GPA in the LBCC College Now Program.
- National Honor Society
- USA Swimming Scholastic All-American
- AAAA Valley League All-Academic Team and on the scholastic team for swimming and cross country
- She’s in the CVHS Band and plays the piano, violin as well as the trumpet.
- Her father says she beats him at chess, although he didn’t want me to tell anybody
- French Club
- Rock Climbing Club
- Photography Club
- Cross Country Team
- CVHS Swim Team – State Champs this year
- Corvallis Aquatic Team
- In Girl Scouts – She achieved the Gold award, which is the highest in Girl Scouts (equivalent to Eagle Scout)
- Volunteer for Heartland Humane Society, Special Olympics, Safety Town, Swimming instructor, Stone Soup Kitchen, the Alice Heinz Benefit, Wilson and Mt. View School, Canned Food Drives, Clothing Drives, Jackson Street Youth Shelter.
- She was selected to serve as National Scholar Medalist representing Oregon at the National Youth Leaders Conference in Washington DC.
- Selected to serve as a Global Scholar representing the US at the 2006 Global Youth Leadership Conference.
- Received a Certificate of Special Recognition from US Representative Darlene Hooley
- 2006 Corvallis Future First Citizen
- A winner in the Corvallis Rose Society show
Rachel’s long-term goal is to earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and own her own Physical Therapy Practice. She will be attending the University of Iowa next fall majoring in business and physical therapy.

I think this is exactly who Bob and Billy Holcomb had in mind when they originated the Founders Trophy. On behalf of The Benton County Foundation, it is my honor to present to you this plaque and a check for $2,500.00.
