Holcomb Youth Hall of Fame Award
In 1997, Bob and Billie Holcomb created the Holcomb Youth Hall of Fame Award Fund to provice a significant monetary reward to a young person aged eight to eighteen living in Benton County who has demonstrated exceptional acts of courage and bravery by saving another person from loss of life at the risk of loss of their own life. Citizens within Benton County, Oregon are encouraged to submit a narrative identifying these ‘heroic’ youth and why they should be considered for the Bob & Billie Holcomb Family Youth Hero Award. The board of directors of the Benton County Foundation selects the final candidates based on the material submitted and an interview. The $4,000 award is then presented to the finalist at a public meeting and their name is engraved on the “Moment of Truth” bronze statue located at the entrance of the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis.
