Congratulations Tom on being honored as this year’s recipient of Rotary’s Meritorious Service Award. Your nomination was seconded by community members like Bev Larson, Barte Starker, Rob Gardner, and Dave Gilbert to name a few.
This award annually recognizes an adult in our community who has made exceptional efforts to enrich the lives of Benton County youth. When I think about the difference Tom has made in providing and improving facilities that support our youth, and that includes the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis, Philomath Youth Activity Center, the Philomath Scout Lodge, the Children’s Farm Home, Old Mill Center, Community Outreach, and Cornerstone Associates new facilities, I think he is perfect for this award. Tom is also a volunteer contributor who sponsors youth sports teams, golf tournaments, and is a lead contributor to fund raising events including Denim & Diamonds, the Boys & Girls Club Celebrate Kids Breakfast, and the Old Mill Center Auction. Tom was an assistant wrestling coach at Santiam Christian HS these past two years, has assisted with Boys Scouts for a number of years, and currently serves on the Board for the Philomath Youth Activities Club, the Southside Youth Outreach, and the Santiam Christian School.
Would you please join me in congratulating this year’s recipient of Rotary’s Meritorious Service Award – Tom Gerding.
