Foundation Dedicates the Holcomb Youth Hero Statue

Holcomb familyBob and Billie Holcomb established the “Bob & Billie Holcomb Youth Hall of Fame Fund” with a $50,000 gift to the Benton County Foundation on December 24, 1998.

This fund creates the Youth Hero Award which provides a significant monetary amount (currently $5,000) to young people ages 8-18 years of age who live in Benton County and have demonstrated exceptional acts of courage and bravery. The sculpture “Moment of Decision”, located at the entrance of the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis, depicts a youth suspended in that split second of time between decision and indecision.

Holcomb Youth Hero Statue dedicationThe sculpture addresses the aspirations of the Bob & Billie Holcomb Family Youth Hero Award, which fosters awareness of the heroic deeds of Benton County youth and honors individuals who exemplify bravery through their courageous actions. Artist Ellen Tykeson chose a figurative idea to foster an emotional communication through the sculpture in hopes of capturing the imagination of the young people passing by it each day.
