WOMEN IN NAVAL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP

The Women in Naval Science Scholarship was established in June 2006 by Jaimee Colbert, with the help of LTC (Retired) Michael Rainbolt. At the time Jaimee was an OSU student active in veterans affairs and the ROTC programs. This scholarship is specifically available for a woman in the Naval Science program and mirrors the Women in ROTC Scholarship (Army) and the Women in Air Force ROTC Scholarship.

Jaimee is from Gresham, Oregon and majored in political science. In addition to her academic work Jaimee was active in extracurricular activities throughout her college career. Her list of activities and accomplishments include: senator for the Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU) representing the College of Liberal Arts; ASOSU Veterans Affairs Committee chairperson; Memorial Union Program Council director; director for the 2006 Mom’s Weekend; involvement in Campus Crusade; service on the Student Incidental Fees Committee; and participation in intramural basketball. She was the Memorial Union president her senior year. In April 2006, Jaimee received the Lon and Mary Jensen Endowed Scholarship and the Anton and Helen Nizich Memorial Scholarship from The Benton County Foundation and the Military Science Scholarship Endowment Fund. On her application, she listed her goals to: “benefit society, by giving back to the OSU community and start a scholarship fund.” She has already accomplished those goals with the creation of this fund.

Naval Science at OSU commissions new officers to both the Navy and the Marine Corps.
